That asterisk you added is REALLY important.

Let's get some dyno charts and look at torque from idle to 3500rpm and see where the 392 sits.
Using peak numbers is fun for an excel chart, but not much else :)
Absolutely. I included that disclaimer because peak torque isn't the best way to do this, but it's something with the info we had (have) at the time.

A better analysis might include:
-FCA's statement that the 392 makes 75% of torque "just above idle"
-The fact that electric motors produce max torque immediately, so part of the 4xe torque is instant
-New info that some or all of these engines may be "governed" in 4 low

I guarantee the 3.6 doesn't make anywhere near peak torque off idle, which is one of the reasons why I'm interested in the hemi.

I can't find too many dyno charts out there, but I was suprised the 3.6 is pretty flat through the range.
It's still no where near the 392, which is double :D

Isn't this during full throttle? In part throttle situations the 3.6 doesn't put out much down low.

When clearing 10' tall waterfall obstacles? Not sure I'm quite at WOT but there is certainly a lot of throttle involved. (Also, I miss Moab. Was just there again 2 weeks ago)

Hill climb in sloppy terrain much?
Regularly, it's rare to find flat ground in my region. Even with the gearing on my non-Rubi, I don't need to go that deep into the throttle to climb over steep stuff.

Be fun to get the 392 in a lighter sport model and throw a tune in it. Then take the doors and top off to go stoplight racing and piss off some Hellcats.

I also drive a manual so the foot does indeed hit the floor quite often.
