Haven’t posted here for a while, but I do keep checking in to keep up to date with what’s going on.
Last week, we were in the back country near Moab (Chicken Corners, Lockhart Basin, Lockhart Canyon, etc.) we had a great, but occasionally challenging trip. Upon returning to Moab, the town was crazy. It took almost an hour in stop and go traffic to get through town. Midway through town, while rolling about 3-4 miles an hour, my 2018 Rubicon (V6 motor) slammed itself into park. It felt like someone hit me from behind. I could move the gear selector (indicator lights would flash), but could not get it out of park. Error messages said “service electronic traction control“, ”front airbag deployed”, and ”service transmission”. Called a wrecker, put the transfer case in neutral to free the wheels so the Jeep could be loaded onto a trailer and transported to Salt Lake City ($1,000 tow bill—yikes). My dealer said initial inspection suggestS a faulty valve body, but he wants their ”transmission expert” to inspect it and he has a 1-2 day backlog. I shudder to think what we would have done if the failure would have happened during the first two miles of the Lockhart Basin trail. It would have taken a helicopter to get it out. I‘M sure the dealer will get my Jeep repaired, but I’ve lost confidence in taking my Jeep into the back country.
Has anyone experienced similar problems? What repairs we’re required? Did you have a reoccurrence of the problem? Thanks in advance for your reply?
