My 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL is now making the knocking again after only 4K miles since last replacement. Jeep wants to repair it again but it would be the 4th axle. I have called consumer affairs, left messages with Dept of highway safety and Dept of Ag and consumer affairs to figure out my legal rights. I am not sure how Jeep Cares works. Does anyone have advice on this. I want to have my jeep replaced and possibly the money back I’ve spent on it so I can get a new one.
You need to send a direct message to @JeepCares.

Might I ask what kind of mods you put on your jeep? it is crazy you've had 4 axles replaced already, which would make me think that's not the issue. Clearly sounds like you got a lemon

I am going through the same nightmare. My Jeep is at the dealer for the 4th time now and they just told me yesterday about the Axle that is on order. It's the same one as before! At a loss of what to do.
Have you thought about getting rid of the LSD as soon as the new axle is installed?. lift and oversized tires could be causing the crappy LSD to keep breaking?

I am not sure I understand why the axle needs to be replaced instead of just the carrier.

I did finally get mine back - the whole process including re-doing leaking seals that they reused took over 6 weeks. The axle did have the new part number so I hope this is resolved in an updated design or properly assembled part (or whatever the root cause was). Jeepcares actually did a fine job of supporting me, keeping track of where parts were, ensuring I had a loaner the whole time, and ultimately for the inconvenience they gave me a nice extended warranty so it is worth talking with them and being patient. Tough to be patient if you've had multiple replacements but my hope is that they just didn't have a fix yet so kept throwing the old parts at your jeeps....

I bought it from Jeep dealership Jim Browne in Dade City FL. Came with 35” tires on 20” wheels and two inch spacers. I have not modified anything on the jeep. I had planned on lifting it through the dealership to maintain the warranty but have not because it has been constantly in the service department with this issue.

Have not considered it yet. I really shouldn't have to do that. You would think it would hold up fine. Haven't heard of these issues with the JKs.

On mine they replaced the carrier twice and entire axle once. They are now looking to replace the axle a 2nd time.

Nope you shouldn't have to. But is Jeep paying you for frustration and time? I would get an ARB locker if I experienced this issue several times. But if the LSD is not the issue and the axle breaks with the ARB locker, that could be costly. Man this sucks. I am just anxiously waiting to be the next on this list.

What is the new part number? They used 68401151AD on mine last time and have this same one on order again.

Throwing axles with the same defectively engineered LSD at a Jeep over and over again isn't going to fix anything, neither is replacing a Jeep with another that has LSD. The fix, at least until Mopar re-engineers their garbage, is to get rid of LSD.

Yeah, that's my concern. Then it will void the warranty. You are right about time and frustration. It's been a roller-coaster ride. My little Dana 30 in the front is holding up like a champ! Trying to find some silver lining here....

My 2018 JLU Sport with LSD has been making this exact noise. Recently came back from a camping trip in the Smoky Mountains, and it's definitely gotten worse. Have a dealer appointment scheduled for this Thursday, fingers crossed (running a Mopar lift and 34's).
