What is the lemon law in your state? I know in a few states that if a vehicle goes back for a certain number of visits for the same issue OR is in the shop for a single issue more than x days, the lemon law kicks in.

Really feel bad for you having to deal with this. It certainly does not paint the Jeep brand in a good light nor does it speak well of their ability to analyze, determine, and mitigate the root cause of an issue.
That is correct, and Jeep is more aware of lemon law issues with the JL than earlier models, I can say with certainty.

I'm definitely having this issue as well, JLU Sahara 2018 with the LSD. Has anyone experienced catastrophic failure from this? How dangerous is it to continue driving?

@JeepCares I've dmed but havent gotten a response

Mine has started knocking again. This will be the 4th time I'm having to deal with this defect.

1st - replaced carrier assembly and one of the axle shafts
2nd - replaced carrier assembly
3rd -replaced entire axle

@JeepCares - Help! There has to be something different that can be done to fix this issue once and for all. I can't stress what a huge hassle this has been since I purchased the vehicle 2 years ago.

Took mine into Scott Robinson in Torrance, CA. They were awesome about it and are replacing the entire rear axle assembly. Replacement part number is 68401151AD. No complaints about my mopar lift.

Seems like it's eligible to lemon law now.

I guess it's about time I added my Jeep to this list. I've had the dreaded rear end knock since I got my jeep. For reference it's a 2018 sport S with the LSD. Knocks on acceleration and also when turning the engine over sometimes. I've been meaning for a while now to take it in but have been so nervous to take it to a dealer after reading all the horror stories in this thread. Could anyone recommend a dealer in the Fort Worth Texas area that understands the issue or at least won't blame it on something stupid? It has a lift on it, but I'm still running the stock tires. Haven't had the funds to upgrade those yet.

@JeepCares I'm not too knowledgeable on the process of getting warranty work done. Do I need to make an appointment for service first or contact you to start a case before I make the appointment? I also understand there's a recall out on the steering damper and a service bulletin to replace the steering gear box. Would I be able to take care of all three issues in one case?

I'm really hoping I can get this fixed. It's my daily driver and I'd hate to be stuck without a working means of transportation. I'm at least a little hopeful knowing there's been some revisions made to the rear axle.

Hi @DudeBro,

You can certainly have all three concerns addressed together. Please schedule an appointment with your Jeep dealer, then send us a private message so that we can have a case escalated on your behalf. We do ask that the appointment is scheduled in order to move forward with your case.

My wife has just said something to me about this 3 or 4 days ago. I thought she was hearing things till I drove it in and out of the driveway. I did a search and found this lengthy thread. 18 Moab with dana 44 LSD 15000 miles

I am curious if this replaces the bad one. One of the comments on the product page seems to indicate it is.
My question could it be the next TSB like the steering box swap? I would think that it wouldn't be so much of a hassle but then leads me to my next question, if the person already regeared their rear M220 axle then would they not be considered for the TSB? I haven't heard anything yet with my anti-slip rear diff, and when it was regeared from 3.45 gears to 4.88 Yukon gears the power is back even with 35"s and a lift even though I have plans on swapping the front axle. I just haven't decided either UD44, or ProRock44. I haven't heard much on the Currie RockJock44, but I've heard Teraflex is coming out with their JL/JT axles soon.

With Jeep coming out with that new part that is on quadratec's webpage I'm wondering if they're going to do a TSB, or straight up recall on the LSD/ASD M220 axles for the Sports/Sahara's.
@JeepCares any insight?
