Thanks for the posts on the fuses not being 'seated'. Bought JLU diesel a few weeks back. After driving home from dealer w/o issue, took it out for a washboard ride. Sure enough, @ 300 miles, check engine light (solid) and DEF Service message. Checked gas cap, DEF cap (cleaned around the DEF cap since the dealer did a crappy job of 'detailing', but Jeep will hear about that) restarted and issue appeared to go away. Wife takes the Jeep for a routine trip, comes home and says 'check engine light on and something about DEF popping up'. Do an interweb search and find this thread. Check fuse-box and yup, relays/fuses not seated. Start Jeep, check engine light gone. Take 'er out for a spin, no issues. Have the Jeep scheduled w/local dealer next Thursday. Will keep driving and see if error returns. Would hate to have what appears to be 'crappy EGR' valve issue. One would think for 50K plus you'd get more than 300 miles before a check engine light comes on.

I am going to my Jeep at the dealer today to check all the fuses and start it up. I am going to be beyond PISSED if my relay needed to just be reseated! There will genuinley be Hell to pay for them not even trying to diagnose my issue and just buying parts they believe are down!

Prepare to be beyond pissed...
Wife took the Jeep this morning. She arrived at her destination and sent me a text 'I just got the error. Dinged at me and check engine light came on'. Her trip was max 10 miles.

Mine was the same error! Unfortunate ALL of the fuses and relays were seated in there tight. I mean Really snug. The dealer acted like i had no idea what i was doing under the hood of my Jeep. I told the service writer what i was planning to check and he said that was not possible that fuses would be loose from the factory unless i did some serious wheeling.

We went to a Brand new Sahara, opened the hood, and sure enough, most of the fuses including the critical ESS Relay were dangerously loose (Loose relays generate Heat and could cause electrical failures on a cascading level depending where they are located in the fuse box). He was very apologetic, and told me he will start having his guys check the fuse box as part of the Delivery inspections so they can document and send that to Chrysler. he said that is the only way to make a change to the factories procedure. But mine none the less were nice and snug. I might have done it a few months back when i took delivery, and just cannot remember.

Good luck!

Based on comments made in this forum, I asked my cousin (The Sales Manager where I purchased my Jeep) to check the fuse box for poorly/loosely fitted fuses. He was skeptical, but had his crew check when my Jeep arrived. Sure enough, several loose fuses were found and they THANKED me for bringing this to their attention as they said it will become standard practice at their dealership to check for this problem. So far, I have had zero problems with my Wrangler Rubicon

I checked mine and they were all seated firmly. It was one of the last 2020s to roll off the line. Something like this has to be the work of a disgruntled assembly line worker or team of workers. It just screams passive-aggressive, IMO.

Hello everyone, this is actually my first post on the forum, I purchased my JLUD about two months ago, it’s been in service for the last couple days for the intermittent issue causing the windshield washer pump to short out, multiple pumps have been used and replaced and the exact same issue keeps reoccurring with no codes, it’s highly concerning to me that an electrical issue can randomly cause components of the vehicle to become nonfunctional.

I have had a couple minor issues that are getting looked at now.. about 2 weeks ago I started getting a Service Shifter message... I took it into the dealer they kept for two days and sait it was because of my Tazer... I know that was complete BS because I have had the TAZer on since about 300 miles and I'm currently a little over 10k now. They cleared what ever code and it remained off for about 1 day and my entire trip to Idaho and back was filled with a flashing service shifter message. It is back in the dealer now.

Second issue is the consumption of DEF fluid. I have filled up 2 times with 7k miles on the Jeep. I just got serviced about 2 weeks ago when they filled my tank. after 2500 miles I am at 25% full. My driving habits are 70-75 at most on high ways. Filling 3 times in 10k miles seems WAY excessive.

Third issue, getting back from my trail run Saturday I had some Oil splattered up ontop of my plastic engine cover. I could not determine the source there was no splatter on the underside of the hood and could not determine any leaking or oil any where else. Could be just some dumb ass in service dripping on the cover and not wiping down but we will see when I get my Jeep back (hopefully Soon)

When you say "fill" how much DEF are you putting in? Adding 2.5gal of DEF 3x in 10k miles is totally normal. You have to fill it to the tippy top and then do the same the next time to calculate out DEF consumption. You also have to keep track of your diesel MPG during the same period.

I have just "filled" my DEF tank the second time. When I fill mine, I am only adding 2.5gal to get it full as I am estimating my DEF consumption pretty religiously based off of diesel mpg. My Ram has 5500 miles on it now and I am averaging 2.6% DEF to fuel use, which seems to be exactly what is expected (as I've been able to figure out from online sources).

Everyone who complains about DEF consumption needs to keep very strict DEF and fuel usage numbers. Then you can calculate out your DEF usage %. Meaning.....if you've added 37" tires/if you are towing a trailer/if you are off-roading a ton and getting low diesel mpg, then your DEF consumption will be high, but still around 2-3% of your fuel use. You just have to remember that DEF usage is based off of fuel usage.

If you are burning through a ton of DEF as compared to your diesel use, then you may have an issue.

Sorry for my delayed response. So I haven't calculated the Percentage I will start doing that. I will say my Def tank refills were almost the full 5 gallons and I was at about 250 miles before it wouldn't start. The last refill I did it was below the 25% and the dealer filled so I am not sure how much they put in. But after my 3k miles I am below the 25% mark again. To me with out calculation seems excessive. Yes Im on 35's and 2.5" lift but I do not drive hard and especially the last 2500 miles have been 90% highway miles. I religiously keep track of my MPG's and I average 21

I am a little pissed now at my Dealer. I had an appointment Monday morning at 0900. As of Today My Jeep hasn't event been looked at. I asked the service tech and was told they are waiting on the Transmission specialist. Well Why the F**** did you schedule my apt if they are not available? They haven't even looked at any of my other issues.

If you aren't adding DEF yourself and letting the dealership do it, you may not be burning through an excessive amount. They may have only added 2.5 gal or so, which will make the gauge read 100% even though it isn't full. The gauges are notoriously off, when mine reads 3/4 (the Ram's don't have a digital DEF gauge) I can add in 2.5gal, which should be 1/2 of the capacity of the tank. So, top it off yourself and keep track for a few fill-ups. I've watched mine very closely over the past 2 fill-ups and it's using 2.6% of the fuel usage. :like:
