I had an appointment to regear to 4.88s but cancelled. If she stays, I’ll regear pretty soon. I also went to s&b again... they are almost ready with the functioning prototype intake.
how is the pickup and highway cruising with the stock gearing? There’s an “expert” over on my forum saying 3.73 is overkill for stock tires

IMO 3.73's and the factory 285/70r17's is about damn perfect. The 3.0L and 8 speed rips with that combination. Absolutely rips. For a Wrangler anyway. Having said that, I'll concede that a taller gear would be great to coax out a few more mpg's. But on the highway is the only place the taller gears would make more sense to me.

It’s still plenty quick with the 3.73 pushing 37s. Cruises in 8th just fine in the highway in the mid-60s too.

Congrats on your Jeep delivery! The diesel will be glorious! Can you please confirm the axle ratio for us?? Is it 3.73 or 4.10?? Thanks in advance and congrats again!
I finally took delivery and got mine home!

I dont see anything on the axle indicating one ratio or the other. Anyone know if there are markings on the outside? I thought I saw someone mentioning that it was on the outside from the factory. Otherwise I'll have to jack it up tomorrow and spin a wheel and count driveshaft rotations.

Congrats on taking delivery! And thanks for checking, someone said that the ratio is written on the axle housing.

I also climbed under mine with a flashlight and couldn't find any markings. I would bet it's the same 3.73s as previous year, but don't know for certain. I just know I love it! The torque is addicting. I had a 2004 Ram with the 5.9 Cummins waaay back, and then a 3.6 JKU in 2014, so I have some things to compare this to. This 3.0 is fun and I don't know why anyone that can afford it wouldn't get it.

Are you running the stock 33” tires? If so, I believe at 60mph, the tach will show about 1750rpm with 4.10, or about 1590 with 3.73.

Didn't get 4 full turns on the driveshaft of mine so there you have it
Since that implies 3.73s, why did the MPG rating go down by 2 MPG versus 2020?

Don't have that answer unfortunately. It's a stretch but I did notice I got the wildpeak mud terrains when I expected the K02s. I'm not necessarily unhappy with these but I was interested to see how the K02s were. Regardless, I wonder if the wildpeaks are heavier or contribute to the lower mpg?

My Rubicon came with K02s, weird.
