Hi guys. I have been contemplating new wheels and A/T tires. I limited my searches to 17s by default but now I wonder if there is a advantage or disadvantage to 18s. I'm looking at Mayhem 8301 Flat Irons in bronze. The 18s are actually cheaper than 17s and the tires are about the same. Pros...Cons...

Jeeps are a harsh enough ride. I'd stick to a 17 as you get more sidewall and the tires are cheaper. The bigger you go on tires the more pronounced the price difference is.

I agree with what was said above from Mark. Also I personally like the look of more tire than more rim.

Tires are part of suspension. If you want a cushy ride smaller rim. Its a jeep not a corvette... for a race car set up its a completely different conversation.

Don't be sorry. Some responses are more harsh than needed lol. Many people run 18's and if that is what you like then go for it. Ride will be a little more stiff but wont ruin your Jeep haha. I just like the look of 17's vs 18's but its all personal preference.

I can't see as where 1" would mean anything. If it did the plush Sahara wouldn't have them. Maybe I could get 18s and Sahara shocks!;)

A lot of the time tires for 18 inch rims are also higher load ranges which contribute to the harness of ride.

What tire size are you looking at?
18 - cant go larger then 255/70 without making your ride extra stiff. All larger tires seems to be E rated.

Thought about a 32-33 A/T. 275 70 18 . Still looking at tires though. I don't need a 10 ply

It looks like a 275/65/18 is roughly the same height as stock. Only problem is tire selection isn't great...........Still thinking.........
