Its definitely noticeable at start up driving around it is deep but 4 cylinder-ish sounding like all the other exhaust. Closest sounding one would be the pipes exhaust. I haven't had the chance to get on the highway but will later today. As far as more power I cannot tell its to small of a gain if any.

Does that exit in front of the axle? How difficult was the removal of the original exhaust pieces required in order to install this? Looks like it includes a resonator?

it exits before the axle, yes there is a resonator in there. Install took about a hour it was very easy.

Just installed the Borla climber touring and it’s very quiet. I barely noticed a difference from stock. Does it get louder with break in? Maybe I should have got the stype. At least it is around 18 pounds lighter than the stock one.

This morning I installed the same exhaust on my JLUR. It is a little louder, but not obnoxious. I'm not sure if it will get louder over time. I wanted something that flowed better, weighed less than stock, tucked up high and didn't drone at highway speeds. All of those goals were achieved.

The system came with a parts diagram, and showed the S-type along with the touring model. I suspect the muffler sections are interchangeable between because the over-the-axle sections looked to be the same part number. It might be a cheaper option to call Borla and order the S-type muffler section. Just a thought...

It’s got a little louder and much better. Would still take a touch more sound

Well, I decided to try the muffler delete this past weekend. I removed the stock muffler and installed the Dynomax Elimination Pipe. I really like how much room it frees up in the back, but it's pretty loud upon startup and in higher RPMs (lower gears). It's too loud for me, so I'm looking into some other options.

I definitely want a better sound than stock, but I don't want it to be too loud. I'd rather avoid the dual-outlet axle back systems because they look a bit bulky and they're really expensive. Has anyone used the Hooker BlackHeart Exhaust kit (BH5410)? It looks like it might be a good option for me.

I have a magnaflow for sale in that section - the dual exhaust was great, it was a bit louder than the wife wanted.

I stumbled across the aFe Rock Basher Cat Back System and thought that it might be a little quieter than the Dynomax elimination pipe (the aFe Cat Back has a muffler and the Dynomax doesn't), but I'm worried that it'll still be too loud. Any thoughts? Will the straight-through muffler on the aFe Cat Back be just as loud as the Dynomax elimination pipe?

I definitely want a better sound than stock, but I don't want it to be too loud. I'd rather avoid the dual-outlet axle back systems because they look a bit bulky and they're really expensive. If anyone has some tips on where to go from here, please let me know. A bolt-on system is strongly preferred (I'd like to use the stock hangers). And of course, the less expensive, the better (I'd like to keep it under $500 if possible).
I don't have any experience with any of the systems you mentioned, but here's another option: https://www.quadratec.com/p/hooker-headers/axle-back-exhaust-kit-muffler-jeep-wrangler

Given the small size of out 2.0L motors I knew there wasn't much to get from a new exhaust note BUT I wanted to get the factory garbage can out of the way. Rough Country has a nice high tuck, dual tip exhaust in matte black that installs very easy in your garage. After running it for about 300 miles I did have my local shop cut the factory resonator out and weld in a piece of pipe. I had already dragged the resonator so it needed to go.

The overall sound is a little louder than factory and has a deeper tone. There's no mistaking it for a bigger motor, but it does help add to the "not a stock vehicle" vibe most our Jeeps have. The resonator delete did not add any unpleasant raspy notes, just helped put a little gurgle/meat to the lower rpm range. For $40, it's worth it to me. I did have slight drone at about 80 mph that is not gone.

While I do not think there's much more than clearance and looks with this setup, it did get quite a few compliments at the dealership today.

Thank you for this. These are some exact details I've been curious about, though I'm a little disappointed the weight savings was only 18 lbs :-(
