You have quite the way with words considering your response suggests differently..
All Crusifix was pointing to was the Car & Driver performance numbers. Nothing more. I haven't gotten the idea that he was arguing that normally aspirated engines have the same power as a boosted (turbo or supercharger) at higher altitudes.

Thanks, and you are correct. If an ECU Commands 16 psi in the manifold from a turbo, then it will deliver that if mechanically feasible at almost any altitude.

Highly skeptical of the livernois tune claiming 51 horsepower without anything to back that up for a bunch of reasons. Literally every other tuner out there shows 20-30hp tops on the 3.6L. I’ve never seen an NA tune deliver 50+ hp dyno verified even on larger v8’s. Forced induction tunes across the board deliver substantially more power than NA, just by the nature of having more variables to improve, in my experience. Hell even a video of their tuned 3.6 actually out accelerating a stock 2.0t would go a long way towards credibility.
It's their E85 tune that gains 51 HP. If you want to call them out, go see this thread: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...s-50hp-gains-on-e85-for-v6-jl-wrangler.53580/

camshaft profiles are what makes your powerband.. Unless you have VTEC lol
Both the 3.6 PUG & 2.0 have VVT.

So everyone...I hear one major difference between the two engines is that on the 2.0L turbo, you never have to take the soft top windows out when riding in Sunrider mode. :giggle:

yeah. This is all bullshit. Car and driver..lol

I could definitely see the power closer at low elevation though.

from a reputable company. Stock and tuned Dyno. Try that with the V6.

E85 tune I could see 50hp, of course the turbo could easily see 100hp on e85 tuned. Kind of apples and oranges being that I’ve never seen E85 at any remote mountain fueling stations. The 3.6L, e85 tuned, city Jeep would be a monster over 5500rpms with a carburetor on a nascar track though.

I went from a 2016 2.6 manual to a 2020 2.0 automatic. i rented a 2019 2.6 automatic for a couple weeks between the two. I have to admit that Im sold on the 2.0. Even on the trails it performs well and gets great MPG. It’s a solid drivetrain IMHO.

Test drive ‘em and see which you prefer. It’s a Jeep, after all...

No use arguing about any of this. I’m amazed by the childish inflammatory responses by some in this tread. Geez. I drive and crawl at altitude...and I prefer the performance of the 2.0l. If someone would rather have the 3.6, it’s still (sort of) a free country and I hope it works well for them. Choice is awesome!

Oh you’re just a poop face, doodie head.

It really is sad seeing so called adults revert to childish name calling. Those are the ones you ignore because they bring nothing of value to anything. Sometimes it’s fun to watch them melt down though.....:CWL:

I was just comparing the currently available 'tunes'. As far as I know, the 2.0's ECU isn't able to be tuned (yet)

There are people on this thread that aren't from the United States...

Well, we have a 2.0 in the JL and a 3.6 in the Mojave. The 2.0 has been awesome and gets great gas mileage and very peppy! You can really tell when the turbo kicks in. The 3.6 is not as peppy but is also in a bigger Jeep. Both have the 8 speed auto. The Mojave performs like a truck because it is a truck, but the JL is just a fun vehicle to drive. We pulled a Suburban with a trailer out of the sand with the JL. When you drop that thing in 4WD low it will pull a battleship. Have not gotten the Mojave out in the sand yet. I think Jeep has really stepped up and either engine is going to pull the Jeeps around just fine. Don't underestimate the little 2.0, you will be very surprised!

"we couldn't guess that the simpler 3.6 would have passenger-side head failure issues, or that the old-school manual transmission would be blowing up clutches."

there were early failures related to the head, but that was fixed something like 6 years ago. The clutch failures track back to LuK making a stupid, bad design of the center plate. It should not be hollow. Hollow plus heat from slippage equals break-up of the plate. Engineers learned decades ago that a plate, such as a brake rotor or clutch plate, should be solid and if you want to save weight or add cooling, you drill holes in it. Despite decades of minimalist engineering, LuK has a strangle hold on OEMs because their lawyers know how to cheaply appear to meet the OEM engineers' specs.

The engineer's rule of thumb is that normally aspirated engines lose 3% power per 1000 ft elevation. Turbo engines lose 0.5% per 1000 ft. Thus the 3.6 and 2.0t are close at sea level, but the 3.6 will lose about 30% at 10,000 ft while the 2.0turbo loses 5%. The numbers may not be exact but should be in the ballpark.
