So on July 15th, three JLUR head for Moab from Michigan. It is the usual characters. Phil with his Stingray Grey JHLUR, He sleeps in the back of his Jeep, me in the White JLUR and Bill in the Punk'N JLUR plus my wife, Carla. She ended up doing most of the driving on the trails while I spotted. She wheeled the heck out of my Jeep. We left at 6 am. Starting shot from the driveway.
So after a 15 hour drive, we stop at our first boondocks camping site. We are all cheap bastards and free campsites are awesome. We stopped in Nebraska and camped by the river.
Sunset was nice at the site.
The next day we drove 14 hours, but gained two hours due to time zones..... We camped at Slickrock Campground on the north side of Moab. It was very close to town and many of the badge trails were near by. Plus they had a pool and we could plug in our campers for air conditioning. The pool and air conditioning made the cost of the campground worth it, but boy did they pack us in there.
Check the refection in the windows for the campground and the nice back drop over the top of the Jeep.
Our first day out on the trail, we earned the Jeep badge for Fins & Things and Hell's Revenge. Joining us was fellow forum member @mgroeger. We spent the next two days wheeling with him and his wife. They are super cool and them joining us enhanced our days on the trail.
Lining up for our first group shot.
mgroeger and wife lead the Fins&things trail.
There are some cool reflections in the grey paint.
I am wibornz. I am the one taking you on this journey. More to come.
