FCA to become Stellantis

Looks like FCA and PSA are coming closer to finalizing their merger and have come up with the new company name: Stellantis. Still lots of regulator hearings to be heard but the new company logo is below.

Next time your Jeep needs its fluids flushed, you can now ask your doctor... I mean mechanic, about Stellantis.

Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group plan to name their new merged company “Stellantis.” The name is rooted in the Latin verb “stello” meaning “to brighten with stars.” The names of the company's auto brands such as Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Fiat will remain unchanged.

Most likely PSA wanted to avoid overshadowing anyone.

As well integrated as FCA has become, it is still difficult for many Mopar fans to get over being owned by Fiat, and for Fiat fans to accept that it is the products from the old Chrysler Corp. —Jeeps, Rams, HEMIs, etc.— that keep Fiat afloat and profitable. Add to that the fact that the Italians would hate being owned the French, and vice-versa.

Giving it a new name, without a hint of Peugeot, Fiat or Chrysler on it, seems the right thing to do.
