@ConqSoft ft Yes, it is safe to drive to the stealership with one broken... Just go easy, driving there.. This is assuming the other body bolts are tight. No, I am not just guessing or speculating on this. 8-)

@ConqSoft

IF you dealership parts department has trouble figuring out what body bolts you need..... they often have trouble figuring it out as the parts listing on their computer in regard to the body bolts is not clear... Anyway, below are the part numbers for the 2 dr. JL. Some guys use new bolts when they remove those bolts on their new JL as they are afraid the bolts have been stressed at the factory or get stressed when you forcefully remove them.

2 dr. body bolts:
Quantity 2 - Mopar part# 6511826AA $3.85 each
Quantity 2 - Mopar part# 6508326AA $19.83 each - ouch!

I did the same thing trying to install step bars on my jeep. Instead of going to the dealership I took it to a body shop and let them fix it for me. They took out the old broken bolt, put in a new one and finished the installation of my step bars. I think it cost me around $250 or so.

As far as driving it goes, a drive to get it fixed should be fine. I wouldnt do much more than that.

Thanks for the reply!

I’m going to see what the dealer says. I’ve done a lot of research on the methods to correct it, but I want to give them first shot at giving me an estimate to repair it since it’s only a few weeks old.

Dealer is able to do it tomorrow so I’m taking it in first thing. Quoted me $280 which includes two hours of labor.

@ConqSoft
I strongly encourage you to have dealer do your add on install while they are at it. Another hour of labor to them may save you $ in the long run....will save you angst also.

I decided against it. Getting money back and not going to bother with anything that uses the body bolts. :)

To me, that makes little sense at this point. Oh well....

Newbie, so still learning all the different Jeep Things. Could someone tell me which bolts have this tendency? I have a 2020 2-door on order that should be here any day.

Thanks,

Myron

It’s s all the body mount bolts on the 2 and 4 door models. 99% of people have no reason to touch them. There are a few step/slider options that require you loosen these bolts though.

@Myron On the 2 door it seems the front drivers side is what you hear has been broke. Could be cause most guys start there. Most dealers will charge you 2 hours labor to do the install. For that couple of hundred $ alot of guys would let dealer do it. If they break a bolt they eat cost of fix, not you. Anyway, fronts are the ones that break more often.

Sliders: $428
Repair: $300
Dealer Install: Another $300

So I can shell out $1100 or cut my losses, keep the steps I have, and only be out $300.

@ConqSoft You will be paying return shipping on that add on. Seller may charge you a restocking fee. Shipping back will be expensive. Might be cheaper to throw the hour dealer labor at it. AND, you did like/want them..
