First time I had it on the freeway for an extended time today. Whistling noise, like blowing between two reeds. Primarily 80mph +

I tried searching and couldn’t find anything.

If someone could give me some advise on what to try or link to another thread I would appreciate it.

Oh, and I believe it’s at the front where it meets the windshield.

Did not have the same noise when the hard top was on.

Damn, I'd be hearing a lot more than wind whistling at 80mph+ in my Rubi. :CWL:

If the hard top isn't on is it the soft top or no top? Shouldn't be a problem, it is the built in speeding alarm all new vehicles have.

True, there’s all sorts of road noise at that speed. But it’s a very distinct and annoying sound.

Hoping someone can help.

I’d hate to actually have to drive slower.

Soft top.

I was wondering if the engineers included it, like: “Dude, you do realize you’re trying to drive a Jeep over 80mph?”

Is it the twill top or sail top? I have the twill and have had zero issues. Maybe check all your seals when its closed? Where is the sound exactly coming from?

It’s the premium top, is that the twill?

sounds like it’s right in the center.

Try cleaning the windshield to roof seal and apply a light film of silicone based lubricant. Test drive to see if that does the trick. If not, try loosening the windshield hardware as though you were going to fold it forward, but just loosen not remove the hardware. Apply light pressure on the outside center of the windshield frame, pulling it towards the rear of the jeep while tightening the easy to get to bolts in that position. Again just a light pressure, no need to man handle it. Repeat the test drive and let us know if it's good.

I will try that when I get back home, thanks.

Found the solution: we put the top down for the last hour of the ride home today.

Surprisingly not that loud, even at 80 mph.

I actually had this same issue recently on a long drive. I’ve had my windshield replaced, so I blamed it on that. The weirdest damn thing was I noticed if I sprayed my windshield with washer fluid, it went away for about 10 minutes, then came back. Right around the 80mph mark.

My guess is some lubricant on whatever seal it is will fix it. For me, it sounds more like the seal around the windshield glass than the seal where the top meets the windshield frame.
