You don't need to drag race it to have the need for more HP. These things are heavy.
torque... perhaps a lightweight 3.6l gas turbo motor w/o all he diesel emission crap. One that's not hitting above it's weight like the 2l with overheating issues.

I love my JLUR manual but the v6 is definitely a weak point. I have a 3.5 ecoboost and I'd would (almost) kill to get it with a manual behind it. Definitely what has me most excited about the Bronco
^This. I would have had a JLUR when they first came out if they'd offered an engine like that 3.5 Ecoboost in my F150. Over the 4+ years I've owned the truck my overall fuel mileage is 20.9 mpg hand calculated, and that's in an area where the speed limit is 80 mph. Great low-end torque - it does not shift down going over the mountain passes.

But maybe there's hope. I keep hearing rumors of Jeep developing a straight six again like is in my TJ Rubicon. Only the new engine will also have a turbo - phenomenal low end torque and power everywhere in the power band.

My guess is 2.3L and 2.7L Ecoboost, not the 3.5,

Sorry, referring to wishing I had a manual behind my 3.5. If the Bronco gets the 2.7, then there's hope that the manual can be retrofitted to existing 3.5s out there.

And, yes, I'm seriously considering swapping the kids college fun for a Bronco The JLUR isn't going anywhere, my wife would trade ME before she let me trade IT :CWL::CWL:

The one on the bottom is a 315/70r/17... top one looks a bit bigger for sure.
