Bubbles in Paint at Door Hinges

The corrosion warranty has an unlimited mileage for the 5 years. How long should they cover it, the lifetime of the car? Never be another car made again. It is the same as steel and rust, there are limitations to all warranties. And if you worry about aluminum corrosion better find a way to deal with it since more and more cars are going to aluminum.

Lol you’re twisting around what I’m saying. But It’s all good. If I was in some of there situations based on mileage...warranty or no warranty I’d fight for them to fix it. (Just sharing my opinion and experiences I’ve been in that a good dealer and some fight will go a long way)
Again just my opinion. Never did I state there that warranties should last forever. Sorry but 2018 and especially 2019-2020 models having this issue within the first year of ownership is unacceptable.

Definitely take it in at that mileage. I hit 42k and they said that it won't get repaired because I am out of basic warranty. But the hood will get repaired because of the corrosion warranty. It makes no sense whatsoever to repair the hood and not the hinges/doors despite it being the same issue.

At 32k, they'll definitely take care of you.

He took pictures and said he would send it in to see if they would cover it. I can hope anyway.

Scoured my Jeep after finding a few spots and took it in for repainting (driver hood hinge and passenger door leading edge) last Monday. Got it back Wednesday. Washed it Sunday… and noticed the upper hinge on the repainted door is fully involved (corrosion). It looked fine the day before I took it in for the other spots. And a possible spot on the gate. I have a few hard drips that were never sanded and became part of the body art somehow… so I need to wait to see if that spot on the gate "evolves", or was just another unsanded drip that I didn't notice before. So... there's that.

Was informed by Jeep Dealer that they will cover the bubbles under Warranty. Told me it will take Two days to do the work. I was relieved and am now hopeful at least on that issue. I just hope that same paint breakout does not happen on the rest of the aluminum panels.

The main weak points for corrosion are penetrations and joints, like hinges and panel seams. But that's pretty much every panel on a Wrangler.

Yep I inspected those areas as soon as I caught the door issue. My hinges and so on look perfect.......for now.

Is this happening under a year of ownership with everyone? Is it happening to every jl? How many would you say. I just bought a JL that was built in February 2020 did they fixed the issue yet?

Issue will continue, only on a reported few so far. Most people wouldn't notice the small bubbles around the hinges because they don't look at their vehucles that closely.

Just got a call back from the service advisor, they only want to repair the hood, not the hinges/doors.

My service advisor was surprised by the response, and told me to dispute it so now I will be doing that.

Just picked my jeep up from having the corrosion on 4 of my hinges taken care of. First the good news, the paint match was spot on and it looks great. The bad news, there is still a very little bit of corrosion on one of the hinges that was repaired. I have no idea how that got by any type of quality assurance check, on second thought there probably wasn't any QA done. So I point this out and I agree to call Monday to schedule a drop off to have this fixed. I didn't leave it because my jeep dealer did not do the work because they don't have a body shop, it was sent to a different dealer for the work so instead of letting it set all weekend untouched on the lot I brought it home. This is where it gets worse, I get home and start to put all of my gear back in the jeep for the weekend trip I have planned, this is when I notice that on all of the doors that were removed for repair, every door handle is loose, the interior door panels are dirty, marked up and not put back on properly. It literally looks like they took my doors off by the handles and threw the doors in the corner until it was time to work on them. The service manager at my Jeep dealer has promised to make me 100% happy but this is yet another example of a dealership (in this case, the one that did the work) that couldn't give two shits about quality and what is returned to the customer. Does anybody else have loose door handles? On my handles when you open the door the rear portion of the hande pulls away from the door. I need to go have a beer and relax.

I have paint bubbles starting on both of my tailgate hinges. I took delivery in October 2019.

2020 Jeep JL, stingray, 2500 miles, garage kept and well maintained. I do live in a area where we use a lot of road salt.

To say I'm not amused would be a great understatement.

And I had hoped this had been addressed after several years of production. I am certainly hoping I won’t regret my Recon purchase. I probably should stay off the forums....FCA quality is depressing.

Eventually ALL car manufacturers will work towards a resolution. Until then blaming just one manufacturer is ridiculous. Sell your Recon and get a F-150. Oh wait, Ford quality is depressing and they are being sued for their corrosion. So try Audi, nope aluminum corrosion. GM, try again. Jaguar, the cat is corroded. Maybe a Schwinn.

Not buying that argument- I own a 2018 Tesla Model 3 with aluminum hood and doors. On the Tesla forums I’ve seen concerns about paint application quality but nothing about corrosion. No get out of jail card for Jeep....from me.
