I've been waiting for hoist manufacturers to addapt their systems for the new shape of the rear of the JLU's hard top. Has anybody seen or purchased one yet?

Too far ahead for me to even think of. Still waiting to order Sting Gray with matching Hardtop. But I'm sure when I do finally get my new jeep there will be tons of options. lol. Top Lift Pros has a really nice system to remove and store the Hardtop but not a hoist system. I just confirmed on their website that there is a new model for the JL's. Pricey, but does have alot of positve reviews.

I don't see why the Harken Hoister for Jeep wouldn't work on the new JL top. I have it for my wife's JK and the only parameters seem to be the overall weight. The hoist handles up to 145 lbs so I think the new JL 4 door top comes in around 100 lbs so it should be good to go. It is a very easy install and I will be putting another one in when my JL arrives.

I posted this in another thread but Im seriously thinking about mounting 4 of these to the top - evenly spaced for balance - so im not going through all the steps as Ive seen to get these in the air .

Seems simple to just back in - hook up - lift and drive off

Give me your thoughts

I'm curious to find out if there was a sound engineering reason to have to redesign this device for the back of the JL hardtop from that of the JK.

Hi @DanW , I’ve been using my Lange Hoist-a-top that I bought for my 2008 jk without any mods just fine. There is enough gap between the glass and the hardtop. One thing I did notice is the hardtop is balanced differently and is heavier in the front.

What kind of system are you looking for Dan?

...one that hoists from the garage ceiling, or maybe one like the Top Lift Pro or Lange's?

...still waiting
there is another thread somewhere on the forum...Something about shattered glass. The guy says he used the Harken Hoist as advertised for the JL, but it shattered his back window.

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...ar-glass-of-my-hard-top-rip.4696/#post-106688

a bunch of people blasted him, and claimed it is user error...But I'm still apprehensive. The Harken was going to be my first choice too...But now I dunno.

I’m waiting on the Lange redesign. I’m not in a huge hurry or I would just purchase the JK version since it apparently works; although I’m wondering if you can still close the glass when hoisted, which is something I would like to do. I saw on another thread the JL Lange hoist is supposed to be available the second week of April.

Dan I have the Lange power Hoist and I was told the modified bracket for JL is up, for pre order, on their site. I haven't checked it out yet though...

I just sent them a message to see when the complete JL kit would be offered. Hopefully, it will be very soon.

Just curious on how you’d attach these to the hardtop ? They’re made of glass fiber or something similar right ? Can’t really just drill a hole in it, can you ?
