I got her ready for summer ... Installed a BestTop Sunrider top on a soft top setup, even thought Best Top told me is couldn't be done. I did have to purchase the 2 tabs that hold on the freedom panels, but other than that it works like a charm.

What I really like about this "bikini top" solution is that there is no gap from the door jam to the edge of the top ... so when I get caught in the rain, water doesn't come pouring in.

I also put on a tonneau cover to keep things moslty wet/dust free till October.

Can you flip it back like a Sunrider then?

There was no disconnect on the TJs. As you rolled around in 2 wheel drive the axle turned as did the front drive shaft.

I've driven around with just the freedom panels on a few times, minus the MacGyver-ing. No issues up to speeds of 80 - 85 mph. On washboard dirt roads I do find that the back middle latches start to work themselves loose from the vibrations. Over the winter I had read there was a way to tighten up the latch a bit to help with that. As far as I know Jeep intends for you to be able to drive like that. Or just have one panel on if you like. In the winter I've gone home with just the freedom panel above my head removed. Was cold going into the office, but nice for the way home and I didn't have place for the second panel (2 door problems).
I'm glad you replied...I had not read anywhere about only having the freedom panels on...I was a bit nervous!

You've reassured me quite a bit... thank you and I appreciate it....

Yes, I did notice the slight looseness in the latches.... so did you just tightened the screws? I'll try that tomorrow....

Thanks again friend.....

Got my windows tinted today (5%).
Got my Vaitrix boost gauge installed. They also mounted my Oracle smoked 3rd brake light above the DV8 spare delete.

Then i came home and installed the Invictus molle headrest covers after i re-laced them with reflective orange paracord.

Installed the Quadratec flashlight holder so I can take my Maglite with me wherever I go. Maglite is my favorite but their new design has gone shit, anyone buying ML300LX the first thing you need to do is to disassemble it and make sure the o-ring seated correctly. Mine was not right and there are a couple others report the same, rendering it not waterproof. I actually bought the flashlight bundle, but the Quadratec flashlight is just a piece of crap and I threw it away immediately.

Also put on a Warn premium fire extinguisher holder, Warn has been hit JL accessories out of ball park since JL came out. The quality of this one is so nice, you can definitely tell it is made here instead of sweat shops oversea.

Man I carried a MagLite for years, but they've really fallen behind. I used to think EDC flashlights were ridiculous, but I bought an Olight SR Baton a couple of years ago and I carry it daily - use it all the time. I'm trying to decide which bigger model to keep in my rig.
