Thanks. I was tempted to pull the FAD motor/fork assembly and look inside but figured once I did that I was going to keep pulling stuff apart and the chances of the dealer fixing it if it was something faulty versus abused was zero.

With front off ground in 4WD LO with locker engaged when I spin a front wheel the other side front wheel doesn't spin which I assume is because the FAD is "disconnected". I can feel hesitation and hear some clunking when turning it over manually.

Plus it's raining and the garage was cold so my motivation was low.

I assume your RCV's are the original and not the 300M steel version? They both seem to have a lifetime warranty on up to 40's so I was eyeing the normal ones as $500 less over 300M.
just a thought but im pretty sure unless the jeep is running your fad will be disconnected. it is switch with vacuum while your in 4wd. try testing again with the engine running if it wasnt at the time of your first testing. should be an o-ring or two on the sliding piece or in the FAD box to seal it allowing it to move under vacuum. i could be wrong but thats how the old styles worked. hope this helps

I got her ready for summer ... Installed a BestTop Sunrider top on a soft top setup, even thought Best Top told me is couldn't be done. I did have to purchase the 2 tabs that hold on the freedom panels, but other than that it works like a charm.

What I really like about this "bikini top" solution is that there is no gap from the door jam to the edge of the top ... so when I get caught in the rain, water doesn't come pouring in.

I also put on a tonneau cover to keep things moslty wet/dust free till October.

The FAD is electronically actuated. As far as I know there are no vacuum lines involved.

So this may have been asked a million times, but isn't there a low profile roof rack/rails on the market that have flip up d-rings or hooks that will accept a stupidly simple lift system? Heck you could sell a pack of 4 that simply attach at each corner of the back hardtop.

You wouldnt even need to have them permanently installed if there was a simple tension fitting to the roof gutter channels

You wouldn't need to mess with supporting straps running through the cabin and support members either.

Not today per say, but over the weekend....installed JKS Quicker Disconnects (cutting the tab was the hardest/scariest part lol) on my MOAB as well as a Rusty's winchplate, Smittybilt x20c 10k winch, removed endcaps of steel bumper, and installed 67 designs driver and passenger ball mounts. Pics below!

The YJ's were vaccum activated. Not sure about TJ's and the JK's didn't have a front axle disconnect. I know the YJ's had a propensity for vaccum hoses cracking. I had to replace a hose once when mine malfunctioned.
