I was pondering the idea of creating a NorCal easy to moderate trails thread for some fun day trips. Any one know if I am overlapping a thread that might already be out there?

That would be awesome. I’m not aware of such a thread currently.

You could post in the other wheeling thread, but folks would have to dig through the posts to find good information. As long as the info gets out so people can go have fun, it doesn't matter

I’m hearing this area does not permit travel by Jeep . A friend of mine works for the state parks as an officer and told me about it. They’re doing extra patrols in the area. So I ended up not going.
So instead, I installed my front diff cover and skid from metalcloak and did a coating of ceramic on the Jeep that’s been long over due.

thanks!!
this area was where I was told.
I wouldn't want to argue with they guy however I have two observations to mention. The first is that it is a public road with access to homes and private properties. The other is that we spoke with a ranger out there just last week (he stopped us to make sure our motorcycles were street legal and had all the proper equipment) who told us to "have fun and stay on the roads" as he started to drive away.

Yeah. The state park rangers are who I’ve been chatting with too. I wonder why the discrepancy. Maybe people get off trail and are causing issues that way.
Thanks for the info on your experience.

From what I remember, they started cracking down out there because people were riding into private property and also causing damage to the fences and letting live stock out. Like the law man said, as long as you stay on the roads you should be fine

I hate it when idiots do things like that and cause closures.

We had a nice afternoon out there and would like to go back.

I am sure you can go back, Jess has been tele-working out there almost everyday still. :)

Saw a bunch of built JKs on I-80 and I-50 from about Dixon to Rancho Cordova on my commute to work this morning. When you've been commuting this route for 15+ years you get a sense o who's who. Anyway, clearly a staggered group heading East for some off-road fun!

I wonder if no JL's were allowed to the party. Clearly they don't know how cool we are...

Lol, the JLs were just giving the JKs a head start and planning to be waiting for them at the top of the mountain!
