Jeep Wrangler Sport Upgrade - 265/70/17 or 285/70/17?

I upgraded mine to 285/70/17's Mickey Thompson MTZ BAJA P3's with Pro Comp rims. I lost a couple miles per gallon but am getting 18-20 currently. I don't notice a difference in it's acceleration at all, we did have to trim a little off of the bumper or the part that is under the bumper to stop it from rubbing with a hard turn, like in a parking lot.

I hope I don't have to do any trimming. Everybody has said no rubbing, your tires might be a bit more aggressive than the KO2s.
If you can, can you get a close up of how much you had to trim off?

At one point I had stock Rubi wheels/tires 285/70/17's on my Sport.

No rubbing. Speedo was only off about 1-2 mph at 70mph. It did seem more hesitant to go into 8th but not impossible.

I then went 315/70/17 and a 2.5" spacer lift and that I had the dealer recalibrate the speedo as it was off like 7 mph at hwy speeds. Now it's perfect and will go into 8th if I'm flat at 65mph.

My Rubicon with 35s rarely went in to 8th, best I did on the highway was like 15mpg

Not sure if Sahara and Sport share the same suspension. Mine is the Japan version Sahara with the same/similar mud flaps at the front bumper. The rims are 17x8 ET10 with BFG KO2 285/70. No rubbing at all.

Even at light off-roaring, the rear clear the inner fender liners.

Sahara suspension is in the middle of Sport and Rubicon, but still should be close enough.

I am also thinking of going with Bronze Rims to complement the Tan top.

I think bronze wheels go well with a tan top.

I have 265/70/17 at3w on my sport s. If you are not planning on a lift I would go with that setup. Anything higher then 33 or higher look crammed in a JL sport in my opinion. Plus mpg hit and 8 gear struggles and not to mention your speedo will be off 3mph. Some people are fine with what I just said so it's up to you. But 265 and 285 don't seem much of a difference. The biggest difference for me was the price on tires I spent around $600ish on five tires if I went up a size it would costed me $350 more. At that point I rather just buy used OEM Rubicon tires and wheels.
