We've captured many top-down views of the 2018 JL & JLU hard/soft tops which hint at the new design and features coming for both configurations. These photos show both NA and export models (export models easily identified by bumpers which meet the front fenders).

One of the prototypes (first two photo below) shows a completely different roof frame and silhouette, leading us to believe this could be the new power top option!

From our dealer system leak info, we previously confirmed the following top options:
  • HT1 - Black 3-Piece Hard Top
  • HT3 - Body Color 3-Piece Hard Top
  • ST2 - Premium Black Sunrider Soft Top
  • ST3 - Premium Tan Sunrider Soft Top
  • STB - Premium Black Soft Top (No Description Available)
  • STC - Premium Tan Soft Top (No Description Available)
  • STJ - Black Power Soft Top (scheduled for production beginning May 14, 2018 according to our recently revealed timeline)

I've been dismissing this feature thinking it was going to be cheesy. The more I think about it though, it may make hardtop removal less heavy and certainly easier to store.

Interesting, and definitely seems to confirm the theory of a more modular rear-end, but...

...that can't be close to the final version as that gap needs to be dealt with as it is definitely gonna collect rain/snow/debris like like crazy if it stays like that.

The 3rd one looks like a hybrid hard top with a retractable center panel, maybe like the Renegade's My Sky Sunroof?
Agree with this. I think that's also why there is some confusion from the different leaks about a power top whether it is soft or hard. From that last pic it looks like it could be a hybrid.

ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh what a tease that headline is. Top - down made me think I was actually going to see the top down, not a top down from the sky view. that was the best click bait I have ever seen!
No, not click-bait, it's proper English / comprehension... "Top Down Look at JL" vs "Look at (a) Top Down JL". :movember:

Anybody realize the stelvio quadrifoglio being tested along? Guess that's coming to the US pretty soon as well, now if only they would place that engine in the wrangler, a 510 hp jl would be nice

I am still saying the Rubicon has got to come standard with the High Fender Flares. Interesting that it seems very few of these have the Side Mirror Markers.

I have said multiple times how I like the flatter roof. I just wish that went flatter roof went all the way to the front of the vehicle. The profile shots make me like it less, looks like a beluga whale.
