I am trying to pick a lift kit for my 2019 JLUR and have a question about Metal Cloak 2.5 kit. Has anyone installed this kit with shocks from a different vendor?

the rocksport shocks don’t seem all that great other than length.

I like the Icon stage six kit because it comes with adjustable track bars and adjustable shocks but it is $3700.

I don’t feel I need the extra flex the Metal Cloak kit offers and I do want to be able to wheel technical trails with a full load of camping gear and beer.

Anyone have some constructive input?

i am running the Metalcloak Gamechanger 2.5/3.5 with the Falcon 3.3 adjustable reservoir shocks. it is a match made in heaven. I carry quite a load of gear and tools as we go out wheeling and camping often. I would highly recommend this pairing to anyone shopping lifts and shocks.

I am running the Metalcloak 3.5" with Fox 2.5s and it works really well. I have also run the rocksports on my JK for awhile and they actually perform great for the price. They just look cheap.

The shocks look very nice. A little expensive. Did you get the Metal Cloak drive shaft?

Glad this came up. I have the 2.5" MC GC with the Rocksports and they are pretty stiff for my taste. Been looking at the Falcon 3.3s as well.

Question(s), if switched, how much travel would I lose, if any, since I am only on the 2.5" kit (37s) and also, would I still mount it to the relocation bracket on the MC kit?

no relocation bracket needed and the adjustable Falcons can be set to soft, i find i like em set to the hardest setting and leave them there.

Most people say the falcons are too stiff even on the softest setting but of course ride quality is subjective.

You will loose flex/travel with the falcons because they are not as long as your rocksport shocks at full extension. Travel is not based on the height of lift as much as it is on shock length. From what I have seen the falcons are 1.2” shorter at full extension.

Ouch, that's pretty spendy. are they serviceable?
They are serviceable, but I have never had to do it. I ran the Fox 2.5s on my JK for 2-3 years after the rocksports without any issues as well. The version on my JL has the DSC adjusters

The Falcon 3.3 are STIFFFF. I have them with the Metalcloak springs and lift.
