255/70R18 All-Terrain Tires

What are your opinions on the 255/70R18 All-Terrain Tires for year-round driving? They come standard on the North Edition, which is very intriguing to me for the other options included in the package.

For those who have these tires (either on the North Edition or otherwise), how do they perform in various conditions including snow and wet/dry pavement? How would you rate them against standard all-season tires? Road noise/comfort level?

I've seen posts on tire recommendations, but I haven't been able to find anything on these particular tires (I may be search engine impaired, though).

Good afternoon @jerseyjoe,

Tires are a product of compromise, so while gaining A/T capability you typically give up some of the on road performance attributes such as wet handling. Some do better than others however there's always a give and take. I believe some of them come stock with the BFG K02 which is a great example of an A/T that does a little bit of everything well.

The goal is to figure out what your use of the vehicle is and the performance attributes that you need for your usage and match the tire to it. There are plenty of A/T options out there that will do well on road, along with added off road capability.

As far as noise and comfort, although there are options that will provide lower noise, the characteristics of an A/T will, by nature make it louder due to the wider tread gaps and shoulder lugs designed to assist in mud.

Are the stock AT tires on the Sahara/North Edition KO2s? It's really hard to tell from the Jeep website. Looks like they could be Bridgestone Duelers, which don't get quite as good reviews.

Mine were Duellers. I replaced them with 285/70R17 KO2's.

I have the factory 32.1” Dueler AT’s. I’ve driven in all the conditions including fresh snow & hard pack. I’ve got nothing negative to say for road driving. They did alright, even in wet mud but I did slide sideways some in clay like mud, of course, and could have used an M/T in that moment but managed. It’s a solid, quiet, and good tire with just shy of 10k miles on them.

I want a more aggressive tire but can’t decide between an M/T or aggressive AT tire in case there is some occasional mud encountered.
