I'm making this post to share my process in dismantling the grill on my new 2024 Sahara 4xe. Based on other posts here, and my own experience, this process on the 2024 grills is more difficult than the models before and there are a lot of questions. Hopefully me writing this out can be helpful to someone at least until someone makes a video about it.

I did this to remove, plasti-dip, and re-install the silver grill inserts that come with the Sahara. I had watched several videos about doing this on other grills, and I didnt realize until i started taking mine apart that it is much different:

- The grill comes in 3 large pieces: The outer one that is body-colored, the middle piece (silver in my case), and the black inner piece. The innermost piece is no longer in small sections that can expose the middle piece as I expected, but now is one large part, which requires the whole grill to be separated. This means that several clamps, clasps, and metal rivets need to be removed.
- The metal rivets themselves were the most difficult aspect, and I would not have been able to do this unless i had a friend that lived close by me with an electric saw to remove them. The rivets are not designed to be reused so you will need to find a way to replace them after you get rid of them. (perhaps with smaller push screws)

Becuase of the rivets this process is a lot more difficult it seems for the 2024 grills than the models before so be warned.

Here was my process:
  • remove the grill from the car as you would with previous versions. This includes removing the push clips from the top, and pulling from the bottom to seperate the grill from the body. (there are many videos on how to do this). If you have a front camera, before you completely remove it fromthe car, you will need to unscrew a couple of screws from the inside of the grill to free the camera, and seperate the camera's washing hose by pressing on a silver section on the hose.
  • once the grill is separated and face-down you will need to remove
    • the silver screws along the top of the grill openings
    • several black metal clamps aroud the light areas ( I pried them open with a flat head)
    • several white plastic clamps towards the bottom
    • the rubber protector at the top (remove it from the plastic anchors in the top of the grill and then pull the anchors out)
    • The rivets at the top of the grill holding it all together (I had to use a small electric saw for this. It wasnt pretty)
    • then you will need to work on seperating the innermost piece from the outermost piece by pulling several plastic tabs to the side that are locking it in place.
With that you should be able to seperate it all.and get it back together again.

Like I said the rivets are not designed to be reused so you may want to replace them with smaller push pins / push screws like the ones holding the grill to the body on the top.

Sorry i couldnt be more helpful with a video. I hope this helps someone in the future trying to do this. I was hoping this took me a couple hours and it took me all day.

Making me real happy I just taped mine off haha! I debated for a minute but was like nahhh I can tape pretty quick. Let me say...that also wasn't a fast process but I'm sure was less stressful.

Just went thru this to swap out the plain mesh for the one with the block out for the BOLT hood lock on my '22 JLUS with '24 grille.
If I ever meet them, I think I'll strangle the committee who decided it was a good idea to use every fastener known to man (over 50 of them!) to assemble the '24 grille. Installing the BOLT grille mesh on the wife's '19 JLUS only took about 30 minutes. It took me over 3 hours to figure out how to disassemble the '24 grille without breaking anything. Another 30 minutes to reassemble it after I knew how to put it back together.
The diagram/instructions below show how easy it was to do the '19.
I've also added a pic of the back of the '24 grille showing all the fasteners.
The last pic is of the final result.
Also added a little Easter Egg of my own on the lock cover.

The BOLT hood lock itself is the same for all 2018-2024 JL's.
The hole in the grill is in the correct position for all 2018-2024 JL's.

The rubber cover yes.
The red Jeep sticker no. It came from Etsy and is actually sold to go on top of the automatic shifter knob. Perfect size for the rubber cover though.

Those rivets made me go ahead with HyperDip. Took some works but worth the effort. Took the fog light trim off too without removing the bumper.

Hey there,
Looks like the trim and mesh (inside portion) are both in the same flat black or satin black/ one color (not like the black and dark grey combo that comes on the Rubi)?
Looks sharp and hence I am considering the same for my JLU
If you can share more info on the color code/ link to the product, that would be great!

I did spray all of it to match. First thought was just the silver trim but the taping was too much. Glad I did.
