Here is a helpful 3.6L ESS dual battery diagram. It details the battery connections for the dual battery setup that comes with the JL Wrangler’s 3.6L Pentastar engine.
The diagram also shows that when you pull the battery terminals off of the battery, there is still an electrical connection between the cables attached to the battery terminal.
