What are your estimated numbers (mpg) for the upcoming 2018 Wrangler Unlimited (Combined/City/Highway)?

Oh, I should add my guess.

Jeep Grand Cherokee gets 19/26. It's slightly heavier but much slippier, so I figure 19 city and 23 highway.

We'll see 1 - 2 MPG bump for Pentastar. Hurricane should fit in closer to the mid-20s. I'm talking the "combined cycle average" numbers here.

I'm guessing 3-4, with weight reduction, aerodynamics, and most of all, the 8 speed transmission as the reason.

How much will Jeep be able to reduce the weight of the JL by through the use of aluminum construction? Ford was able to reduce the weight of the F150 by over 700lbs.

Curb weight of the 2017 Sahara Unlimited is 4291 lbs. Can FCA get it down to under 4000 for the 2018 model?

I think they once said 500 lbs was the target.

I'm guessing an auto diesel 2-door Wrangler will get close to what Ram 1500s does: 19 city, 27 highway.

If the upcoming Diesel engine is anything like current one offered in Australia, then we can anticipate a 25% increase in fuel efficiency over the current Pentastar.

It's not the same, but I'd be stoked about 25% better MPGs!

The Ram 1500 (Petrol 3.6 L, 6 cyl, Automatic 8-spd) gets 16 mpg city and 23 mpg hwy. The same vehicle using the EcoDiesel engine averages 21 mpg city and 26 mpg hwy.

Hurricane should fit in closer to the mid-20s.
I would be quite surprised if a Wrangler with any engine, could produce "real world" mileage in the mid-20's.

I was totally uninterested in getting a JL. The SelecTrac is nudging me a bit closer, and actual mileage in the mid-20's might be the last needed push. I mean a jump from 16 to 25 would put a grin from ear-to-ear on me. :D

Pentastar and Hurricane are likely close to each other at Highway speed, and I'd guess mid 20s is a generous but not impossible guess.

I think the Hurricane will do better in town than the Pentastar, both due to smaller displacement and sedate tune and also with the help of BSG.

The EcoDiesel will come close to 30MPG Hwy, but drag is so huge on the Wrangler it's going to fall well short of the Grand Cherokee and RAM numbers.

Also real world numbers are going to be less, as this will be numbers based on low rolling resistance tyres, and no lift. So people with 3" lifts running 37s complaining about not getting 'quoted MPG' are just naive.
One area that I think the diesel will excel is slowly giving back fuel economy vs the others, as it will likely be somewhat less impacted by added upgrades or added drag from lightbars etc, or even added payload than the other engines. It still won't be miraculous, but it will likely be more consistently in it's range for real world users.

I'm guessing 19/23. Pentastar maybe 1 mpg less.

I am thinking about diesel not only for the mileage, but for the longevity. I plan to put a pop top camper on it and drive around the US when I retire. I managed to put 130K on my Wrangler in 5 years, and that was taking it easy!
