If this is how big the power sliding top is, then I might have to pass on the new Wrangler unless someone makes a powered retractable soft top like they did for the JK

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JEEP!

I really don't want to have to buy the soft top then pay another 4K just to install this

So does anyone believer the dash shown in the owners manual is the real thing? I have to think it's just something used for the manual to represent a generic dash.
I wonder the same thing when I look at the pictures on page 68. The one on the right, the one that is suppose to be the "7.0 Inch Instrument Cluster Display Location", is trying to show me what? Nothing?

So minimum octane for the 2.0 is 87 but it recommends 91 so let's assume that we have to use the premium 91. Combined MPG is going to have to be around 30 for me to justify spending extra on the 2.0 and pumping 91 for the lifetime of the vehicle especially since I live in a Communist State like California where Moonbeam just threw a gas tax hike on us.
is it confirmed that the 2.0 Turbo is the base engine for the JL? I thought I read that it was and the upgrade would not be the V6 Penstar?

For the JL Pentastar they are calling for 0W-20 oil, 4.73 litres.

The JK Pentastar manual called for 5W-20 (and permitted 5W-30), 5.6 litres.

Can this be trusted or are they just trying to get better fuel mileage at the expense of engine life with a lighter oil? Is this being driven by the ESS?
Probably posting that 0w so that people will know to use full synthetic???

Just the opposite. The V6 Pentastar is the base. the 2.0T will be an upgrade choice along with the 3.0L ecodiesel

0w20 is fine in a high quality synthetic and shouldn't be detrimental to engine life. I looked at Pennzoil Pure Platinum 0w20 last night, and it exceeds the existing FCA standard requirements, as well as GM Dexos II. I'll be running Mobil 1 EP 0w20 or 5w20 in mine and will follow the oil life monitor for change intervals. There are lots of engines out there with well over 200,000 miles that have run on 5w20, including some 3.8 JKs with the 3.8.

Yes, they are looking for better fuel economy, but I don't believe there is a huge tradeoff in longevity with high quality oils.

If the lack of side curtain airbags is a huge factor in the buying decision then maybe the Wrangler isn't the vehicle for you. I've taken my daughters in my Wrangler and they survived. A vehicle with a removable roof and doors is inherently going to be less safe than a fixed roof vehicle. Maybe a Grand Cherokee would suit your needs. But the Wrangler Unlimited is one of the cheapest vehicles to insure... Weird?
is this true, one of the cheapest?

Yep, found what I read... and it says upgraded, not upgrade, must have skimmed over it a bit to fast. That plus seeing the Hurricane listed 1st made me think it was the order of options for the motors.

When I first got my YJ in 1997, I paid car insurance through the nose ($200/ month). I shopped and heard from everyone that they were risky and expensive to insure (especially when you're a 20 year old punk). Glad they've changed.

Well if that's true that that one is a motorized one that is completely removable then that makes sense people would expect that as a possibility. Like I said I didn't know of any but I learn new stuff all the time on this forum.
I learn new stuff all the time here too Chuck; we all do.

As an OEM item or aftermarket?
Aftermarket, but their tops have always been better than OEM, even quieter than the hardtop on the JK

5k may seem like a lot, but those of us who are convertible die hards have paid more than a 5 grand premium just to have the convertible version of whatever vehicle we want.
