Does anyone know if the 2018 Unlimited is expected to have AC vents in the rear? I’ve got a baby and a three-year-old that will need some AC blowing back there. AC for the front seats is not enough and I’m really hoping that jeep finally puts some vents in the back. That’s the only thing holding me back from buying the current version.
Welcome to the site. Yes, this site has revealed that there'll be "rear passenger HVAC vents placed in back of the front middle console (likely 4-door JLU only)". :like:

This was posted in the JL/JLU info compilation thread -- http://www.jlwranglerforums.com/for...l-jlu-and-2019-pickup-jt-info-compilation.21/

Future JK or JL owner
AC in the back of a unlimited will be a big decision maker for others that wouldn't buy a JK for that reason.

I"m definitely interested but unsure if I want the all new JL or just get a JK......decisions, decisions.

I have also been hoping for the ability to build the 2018 JK online. Their inventory search has located some supposed 2018 JKs in stock. Dave Smith.....

Nice, they end ordering and didn't even let people see what they look like!

Which is really no different than any other vehicle that shuts down the plant before retooling and then starting new production half 3-6 months later.

Many were just hooeful that there would be an overlpa, but the strong sales this year meant that FCA has to set a ‘last call’ date, and it was earlier than if there were weaker sales, because the Drop-dead date of March 2018 is non-negotiable, so they need all the orders in so they can plan out the final production weeks with a set finish date. Likely overly aggressive if even using a 12 week production timeframe for last order, they still have more than a month buffer.

not the golden eagle not the altitude, and not the special edition that they didn't release yet.
That’s not new either, Jeep only ever described the Winter/Spring special editions in the fall, and didn’t show them until near the end of the year or at Detroit’s NAIAS in January. It’s why people were uncertain about the colours like Chief and PlumCrazy/XtremePurple until they arrived or starting outting up promos.

=========================================================================================

It's been widely reported that the current JK Wrangler will continue production (as a 2018 model year) even as the next generation JL Wrangler begins production in November.

We now have hard dates from a supplier source of ours who has provided us the currently scheduled production dates for the 2018 JK:
  • 2018 JK -- 6 Month Model Year
  • 2018 JK Production Start Date -- October 2, 2017
  • 2018 JK Production End Date -- March 30, 2018
  • 2018 JK Order Banks Open -- August 10, 2017 (Note: it's possible that this date could be moved to the following month with banks opening on September 14th)
Wrangler Assembly Plant Schedule: TSP (Toledo Supplier Park - Toledo South)
  • Building 2017 JK Wranglers until 9/30/2017
  • Will build 2018 JK Wranglers starting 10/02/2017 until 3/30/2018
  • Will shut down starting 3/31/2018 for an estimated 3-4 months or longer to retool for the 2019 JT Pickup

I originally ordered a JKU Sahara 2017, actually one of the last possible order for the 2017 for JKU's I was told. The dealer made an error and ordered a 2 door (JK) instead of the 4 dr (JKU). Now I have to wait for the 2018 model. They apparently put in the order which is on standby until they resume production. Now my question is, will they still make JKU's for 2018 ? Or will it be a JLU ? I see on the thread that they are making JK's for the first trimest of 2018. Anyone with info about that ? My dealership seems a bit mixed up as even they are kept in the dark about the new JLU.

What we've heard today is that JKU orders can no longer be placed in the dealer system. If they don't already have your JKU order submitted, that may mean you'll have to find one in dealer inventory or order a JLU.

That said, JKU production is still continuing (to fulfill orders placed until now). And there will be both 2018 model year JKU and JLU.

So I guess I don't fully understand the JK ordering timeline. If I want a JK (non JKU) I have until March to order? Doesn't seem like they would be accepting orders all they way to the end of production. Thanks.
