It'd be cool if they could have the Job 1 plant event match up with SEMA, with some kind of joint reveal. I'm sure they would love to have an unveiled JL at Toledo North to commemorate it.
Also thank u as always Admin/JLWF for this great info!
If it's anything like the Renegade MySky panels then road noise/temperature issues will not be an issue. The Mysky panels already have a headliner built in that insulates from sound and acts as sound deadening. Combine that with the fixed insulated roof around the power top and it should be like...
Doesn't make sense to be a roof system, it would show up as an exterior option unless it's just miscategorized. One thing is that cargo system I posted is just for the JKU obviously...
Very surprising to see it in their system already. I wonder if that means it will be available right away given how there's still a lot of other things that are supposed to be late availability (like power sliding top) and missing from the options list.
Nice catch. I guess this is them benchmarking against the JK, seeing as how there is really no other competition ;)
To answer question above, the flags seem to read "B-L" and then other text I can't make out.
Order bank basically means ordering system. When it "opens" Jeep dealers can submit orders to FCA. Unfortunately you'll have to order your JL / JLU through a dealer. No automaker except Tesla sells directly to customers. Manufacturers sell to dealers, and you buy from dealers.
IMO they should make the 2018 a full year final run of the JK and start the JL with 2019 along with the pickup (it helps those of us that might actually decide between the JLU or pickup). It also gives them more time to retool and possibly release it with the diesel right out the gate.
Looking at where the "buttons" and supposed release latches are located it kind of looks like the roof doesn't go all the way to the windshield. I hope I'm wrong about that.
My guess would be 300-500lbs. The F150 shed 700lbs with an all aluminum body. They would never use low strength aluminum tho, that would just exacerbate the concerns of going all aluminum.
I've heard this too and I bet that windshield glass just pops down and the pillar frame stays. Otherwise you're looking at either a fixed roof or no rearview mirror (both of which are not likely).
Personally I would be ok with the roll cage. It's not much different than the current sport bar...
Hope so since that's coming up! His comments would make sense since the Easter Safari overlaps with the NY show. It would be great if they could reveal it and also have it at the show for those of us in the tristate area.
Ford said it will pretty much be the same global Ranger with a few adjustments for US buyer preferences. With the JT coming out the same time Ford is being too conservative imo.
But what does BOF attachment points have to do with changing over from steel to aluminum though? I thought none of the frame was going to be aluminum and only non structural parts would be switching to aluminum? The leaked alcoa memo mentioned front and rear door inners, hood outer and inner.
I know the wrangler is so popular because of its roof's convertibility but it does almost nothing but come off. And the freedom top for $2k also does almost nothing. Someone should design a modular hard top that fully breaks down into multiple pieces that can fit in the trunk. Something like...
I'm eyeing a JLU too but I'm wary of first model year cars. Seems like they often have gremlins and recalls. I'm hoping the engineers test the hell out of the JL prototypes and iron out any major issues, but we haven't seem many spied prototypes lately so that worries me.
I just posted a thread about this but it could be because of this article - http://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/chrysler/2016/11/17/jeep-chief-lays-plan-keep-sales-roll/93999698/
Unfortunately even the NY auto show is still first half 2017. Maybe they are deciding whether to do a...
I just came across this Detroit News article (dated Nov. 20) and thought you all might want to know. It looks like we could have more of a wait before they reveal the JL. At least production doesn't seem to be pushed back for both JL and JT.
Since Detroit is only a month away I would that means...
