  1. Blind Spot Monitoring confirmed for 2018 Wrangler (photos)

I've made my living for 15 years packaging this technology for one of the first suppliers to offer it back in the day. Works very well but I wouldn't personally pay for it on a Wrangler. Glass coverage down the side is pretty open. It would have to be something pretty low (Fiat 124, etc) to...
  2. Blind Spot Monitoring confirmed for 2018 Wrangler (photos)

You'll need the mirrors but you'll also need the proper taillights w/ the BSM function included. The proper lights will have a blank gray/black area with no texture. The radar has trouble seeing through too much texture on a surface. This is why they're typically behind the rear fascia on...
  3. building my own roof rack, Blind Spot Monitoring question....

The key with these is keeping metal out of the field of view since they're radar based. Figure on something like a 150° field of view starting at the radar unit's face. Can see through simple plastic but typically doesn't like sharp features.
  4. Blind Spot Monitoring confirmed for 2018 Wrangler (photos)

With the doors off your blind spot is kinda gone. :like:
  5. Blind Spot Monitoring confirmed for 2018 Wrangler (photos)

Couldn't really look through the mirror itself. They typically don't like sharp objects in the field of view and there's a lot going on inside a power mirror. Blind Spot radar is always packaged in the rear corners of the vehicle. If they do a plastic bumper cover again w/ the ends being...
  6. Tail Lights on 2018 Jeep Wrangler EXPOSED!

Isn't the current hinge body color with plastic caps over them?
  7. Blind Spot Monitoring confirmed for 2018 Wrangler (photos)

I'd like to know where the sensors are packaged. They can't see through sheet metal (radar).
  8. Our Latest 2019 Jeep JT Pickup Info and Preview Images

Yeah....could be camo now that you say it.
  9. Our Latest 2019 Jeep JT Pickup Info and Preview Images

This kinda looks like it could be a down-bar though...
  10. Our Latest 2019 Jeep JT Pickup Info and Preview Images

I wasn't even thinking about the intrusion into the cab. Another good reason....
  11. Our Latest 2019 Jeep JT Pickup Info and Preview Images

That could be possible (bed first). Good catch but I just don't see it happening that way on an assembly line. The forward jutting jog is still just a wing of sheet metal. For repair and the option of other types of beds...I'd wager they'll want it easily removable.
  12. Jeep Pickup (JT) Spied With Production-Intent Bed!

Would bet no chance. Assembly line nightmare. It would have to be swung in from the rear perfectly flat, and those angled sections would just be body side sticking forward. The front wall of the bed by the cab isn't going to be shaped like that. DON'T make judgements based on the camo...
  13. Our Latest 2019 Jeep JT Pickup Info and Preview Images

Bingo! It will have to look like that.
  14. Our Latest 2019 Jeep JT Pickup Info and Preview Images

I'll bet money that jog on the bed doesn't happen. Guys doing the renderings obviously aren't hands-on car guys. From an assembly standpoint that would be a nightmare. They are going to want the bed to drop straight down onto the frame. I don't think that jog, as drawn, is even reasonably...
  15. JLU soft top spied!

Agree 100%. I really think Aventus just needs a Grand Cherokee and he can find a way to take the doors off. ;)
  16. First Look: Production Interior of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL/JLU!

The "long button or lever of unknown purpose" appears to be an indicator for the passenger airbag. Logo and letter are quite familiar. I hold the patent for one of the first manual switches for GM starting in the late 90s. ;)
  17. Verified: 2018 Wrangler JL/JLU Will Get 3 Screen Sizes

Better plan on no more new vehicles in the near future. Those screens, as the price continues to drop, become much cheaper and less complicated than the mechanical switching.
  18. JLU soft top spied!

You obviously don't work in the automotive business. I have for 25+ years. It's run by old farts and bean counters. Have you ever owned a soft top Jeep? That vinyl doesn't "fold" very well. Not going to happen on the top portion.
  19. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Sahara (JLU) Roof Exposed!

Might have to wait for aftermarket top options. This one, based on the pic, is definitely the same as the old. Don't get the doors off/top on thing though. If you're leaving doors at home why not the top? Or go soft top for all but winter (our's is a dual top)? Last one we ordered premium...
  20. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Sahara (JLU) Roof Exposed!

It would be foolish for them to use it here. It's a more expensive bumper to manufacture. Why use it here if it's not required? Most decisions come down to dollars and cents. I would gather most people DON'T like that version. If you want a fully integrated hard top and front fascia, you...
