2018 Wrangler Roofline Hints at Fixed Roof Structure & C-Pillar

Last week we showed you new spy photos of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a semi-exposed roofline showing drip rails that run the entire length of the roof.

Now a supplier source has provided us this image showing what’s underneath the camouflage of the production JLU’s roofline, with a comparison to that of the JKU beneath it.

From the image you can see how the JKU’s Freedom Hardtop fits over the rear doors and trunk cargo area while the JLU roofline shows clear separation between the entire roof and each of the windows, as well as the missing cut line where the removable rear top section would be.

This suggests possibly a fixed C-pillar and fixed rear window, and may indicate a solid roof structure extending the length of the vehicle that also provides support for the 3-piece hardtop we expect to see on the JLU — as we conceptualized in our 2018 Wrangler renderings months ago.

Take a closer look at a preview of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (JLU)’s roofline and sound off in our forums.
